Offline Marketing in an online world

It seems that because websites and blog are hosted on the internet lots of webmasters and bloggers concentrate only on online marketing, tending to forget the traditional media, obviously internet marketing has a quicker and far reaching impact, but the fact that bloggers are not promoting their sites via offline media, should be seen as a great opportunity to promote their site. On a number of occasions I have promoted ExchangeIS.com in this way achieving phenomenal results. So it is something you should consider.

The easiest way to promote your site in this way is by sending a press release to their local and national newspapers. If you manage to get your blog or post in the print, you will open your site to a whole new demographic of readers, that will have a large impact on your site.

So you have decided to write a press release below is a list of the rules you should follow when writing it:

·         You need to keep it short, no more than 1 page.

·         Sell your blog or website (not literally) in the first paragraph, so spend your time crafting this paragraph, thinking about what the news editor might want to hear along with the readers.

·         Your first paragraph should include what where why who and when

·          Tie your press release into a current event or current news, this will increase your chances of getting published.

·         Use positive action words like will rather than might.

·         Ensure you include important details such as the URL of your website, a daytime contact phone number, and your email address

With this in mind, below is a made up press release to show you how one should look:

MAIN TITLE OF PRESS RELEASE IN CAPITALS [KEEP THIS SHORT]

[Subtitle] This can be in upper and lower case and is your first paragraph and should have the who what when where how why. This can be a little longer than the title but keep under two lines.
